How To Help Low-Wage Workers

A minimum wage law does not force an employer to hire or retain a worker at the minimum wage. In responding to a rate increase, the employer is perfectly free to fire any worker paid less than the new minimum wage and is certainly free to abstain from hiring new workers at the new minimum wage.
